Become Indiana Jones

You ever want to learn how to crack a whip or out run large boulders? Who doesn’t? Join the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA), Colchester Archaeology Research Team (CART) to get the real behind the scenes of the daily life of an archaeologist. The FCPA archaeology team offers a variety of opportunities for volunteers to see what a day in the life of an archaeologist (unlike Indiana Jones?). We offer a variety of opportunities including both lab and field work.

Below volunteers are working in the lab to wash and weigh artifacts from the field, which helps us analyze the various artifacts for cataloging and report writing.

We also offer many opportunities to get down and dirty with the artifacts in the field. Below Chris Havlicek a longtime volunteer takes advantage of the different field opportunities we provide.
