Getting to Know the Artifacts V

Piscataway Point found
at Old Colchester Park & Preserve
Drawn by Lily Kleppertknoop
It has been a while since we have posted “Getting to Know the Artifacts”. While digging in the field has ceased, the artifacts are still being processed, researched, and analyzed.
One book, Projectile Point Typology for Pennsylvania and The Northeast by Gary L. Fogelman, includes many of the points we are finding at Colchester. I do not have a ton of experience with it, so I cannot necessarily recommend the out of print book. If you have opinions on the book, please leave a comment below.
White Twisted Decoration Wine Glass Stem

A book that no colonial archaeologist can be without is A Guide to Artifacts of Colonial America by Ivor Noel Hume. On page 191, you can look at glass stems such as the one with the white twisted decoration pictured here.
