Ceramic analysis

Currently Megan and Chris are still analyzing the ceramic assemblage for each layer of the features on 44FX3197 (town site), and 44FX0704 (cemetery site). Ceramics are used in analysis because they have historically recorded production date ranges.  We use a mean ceramic date calculator, which calculates the amount of ceramic recovered with the date range of production.  As seen in the chart below for Feature 87 (the linear red trench near Old Colchester Road in 44FX3197), the percentage of pearlware (date range 1775-1840) decreases with the deeper layers, and creamware (date range 1762-1820) an earlier ceramic increases with depth.  Whiteware artifact counts were few, but still present throughout the feature, evidence that Feature 87 filled after the start production of whiteware in 1820.
