So, it’s not Colchester, but why not share it on the blog anyway?  Work has started at the Walney Visitor’s Center at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park.  After something of a hiccup on Thursday, digging started in earnest on Friday.

Turnout has been great.  We had five volunteers and a boy scout earning his archaeology merit badge working on Saturday.  The dirt is dry and hard, but we are powering through it.  If you are interested in coming out, drop Chris Sperling an email to get on his list and find out next weeks schedule.

So far we have been finding some eighteenth and nineteenth century materials and already have a possible cultural feature.  Not sure how long we will be out there so you shouldn’t waste any time getting involved!
